WOW! Experience

LEGO Inventors

Imagine it. Build it. Find out what happens next.

A story sets the problem. The answer gets built.

LEGO Inventors invites children into imaginative design challenges where they use LEGO to build, test, adapt and reveal their own solutions. It is not free building, and it is not following the instructions in the box.

  • A story or a challenge. Something has happened, and it needs an answer.
  • A limit. A baseplate to stay on. A set of pieces. Something to protect.
  • Your own design. No two answers are meant to match.
  • A test. Does it hold? Does it fit? Does it roll?
  • Another version. Danny’s phrase for it: version one, version two, version three.
  • A reveal. Show what you made and how it works.

One Experience. Different stories.

The story changes with the season. What children do inside it stays recognisable.

A July Fourth week

Protect America

One summer week of LEGO Inventors ended the day before July Fourth. Children were given a design challenge: protect the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence.

Danny remembers it as a camper favorite.

Fall 2026: the plan

The Magical Pumpkin Patch

A farmer plants some seeds he doesn’t recognise. For two weeks, nothing. Then pumpkins come up that aren’t orange, in shapes he has never seen. Some have arms. Some have legs.

At this fall’s camp each camper had a LEGO set and a green baseplate of their own. The plan was for children to build that patch on the baseplate, however they imagine it, as long as it stays on the plate.

Planned next, with the timing left open: the pumpkins wanted to go driving, so children design vehicles to carry them. Then obstacle courses to test those vehicles, built for other groups to try.

This was the plan. The camp took place October 12–14, 2026. What actually happened will be added here once it has been written up.

From the field.

LEGO Inventors first ran in 2023 and has returned since.

The photograph at the top of this page is from 2024: four campers on a library floor, building side by side around one spread of bricks, open boxes all around them.

What might become visible.

An Experience like this creates room for a child to imagine something that isn’t in the box, and to stay with an idea through more than one version.

It invites children to explain what they made, and to try what someone else made. It may reveal who plans, who tinkers, who notices what another builder needs.

Ways to enter.

This fall’s WOW! Camp at Prince Avenue Christian School, LEGO Builders — Fall 2026, was a LEGO Inventors week planned around the Magical Pumpkin Patch. It took place October 12–14, 2026. No new LEGO Inventors dates are set yet.
