WOW! Program

WOW! Camp

A few days inside one challenge. Then show what you made.

Two boys carrying a full-size wooden boat they built, painted blue on the inside with red and white stripes along the hull, across a sidewalk towards a waiting trailer.
Built at camp, carried to the lake. WOW! Camp, 2025.

Camp has a beginning and an end.

A WOW! Camp is a focused run of days. Children arrive to a challenge, stay with it through real materials and more than one attempt, and finish by showing what they made.

  • One challenge, several days. Enough time for a first idea to fail and a better one to follow.
  • A small group. Small enough that every builder gets seen.
  • A Guide, not a lecturer. Someone who sets the challenge and then lets children work.
  • Something to show. A board, a filter, a machine, a boat.

The camp was never the product.

Camp is one way a WOW! Experience is delivered. The Experience is the challenge underneath: the invitation, the making, the testing, the reveal.

A camp is the dated version of it: this place, these days, this group.

Explore the Experiences

A large group of children holding up cardboard plinko boards they built, each one pegged, painted, and different from the others, with Danny standing among them.
Every board pegged and painted. No two alike. WOW! Camp, 2026.

Since 2021.

Some of what children have built at WOW! Camps.

  1. Water filters from cut bottles, sand and gravel.
  2. Wooden arms that move with water. Hydraulic Power
  3. The first week of LEGO Inventors.
  4. A boat, carried to the lake.
  5. Cardboard Plinko boards and an arcade. Plinko Arcade

Other camp weeks have taken children into kitchens, onto farms and out to an apiary.

Three children crouched on the ground around a water filter they built from a cut plastic bottle packed with sand and gravel, one holding it steady while it drips into a tub.
A bottle filter, mid-test. WOW! Camp, 2021.
